Y’all know I think the Department of Justice is just desperately scrounging for any excuse at all not to charge Donald Trump, and even to delay announcing that they won’t charge Trump. Just, sorry, no. It’s taken entirely too long[1] and made highly visible the difference in how the rich and powerful are treated by our system of injustice and how everyone else, but especially subaltern folks, is treated by that system.[2]
Because, you know, we all know that it wouldn’t take DOJ anything like well over two years, to investigate you or me, especially given the evidence against Trump that’s already been made public. I’m sorry, no. Full stop. If there’s anything more to it than that, it’s that desperate reach for an excuse, any excuse at all, to not charge Trump.
‘Cause, you know, that’s not how we treat the rich. It just ain’t done. Give us a civil case instead,[3] so we can go on attending each other’s parties and wondering what our lawyers are blathering on about.
So, that works for a little while. It isn’t working anymore. ‘Cause the orange blabbermouth has been blathering,[4] with remarks tantamount to suggesting, some would surely say, that there are places the DOJ should have searched for classified documents but has not. I’m suspicious that some of those places are overseas—and, I mean, um, there’s a way of handling that, right?
